Hammond Square Children’s School is a peanut butter and nut free school. Nut allergies are life threatening! Nut allergies are air born allergies, so if there is a child eating peanut butter across the room for a child with a nut allergy that child could go in to anaphylactic shock. If your child eats anything containing nuts before he or she comes to school please be sure you clean their hands and faces very well. We will now be providing wipes in the front hall of the school to use for the children to clean their hands. We require every child to wash with a wipe before entering the classrooms.

We also have several other students with different food allergies. We will not be able to serve a snack unless it is accompanied with an ingredients label. This includes baked goods and all packaged snacks. Please read the labels well. We will not able to serve foods that “may contain traces of nuts”. Manufacturers often change ingredients, so we need the ingredients label every time you bring a snack.

We appreciate taking the extra time to be cautious for our students with food allergies. Our number one responsibility is to keep all the children at this school safe. Food allergies can be life threatening. Following these rules will help keep our students with food allergies safe.

My Signature below indicates that I have read and understand the Food Allergy Policies. I accept the policies and understand it is my responsibility to be sure anyone in my child’s life that prepares food for my child to bring to school understands these policies as well.

In addition, other health issues are handled on a case by case basis within the guidelines from the Department of Early Education and Care. Please call our director for more information. We do try to accommodate every child’s individual health concerns to the very best of our abilities.
